Are you passionate about aerospace, control systems, and cutting-edge software development? At Origin Robotics, were looking for a Flight Software Engineer to join our innovative team. This full-time, on-site or remote role offers an exciting opportunity to work on state-of-the-art flight control systems while accelerating your career through mentorship and hands-on experience.

Your Role: Shape the Future of Autonomous Flight

As a key member of our team, you will:

Develop and Optimize Flight Software

Design, implement, and maintain flight software for drones and autonomous aerial systems.
Optimize real-time flight control algorithms to enhance stability and performance.
Contribute to software architecture decisions to improve modularity and scalability.

Test and Validate Performance

Develop, validate, and debug flight control software in simulation environments.
Analyze flight log data to diagnose issues and enhance performance.
Conduct hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and real-world flight validation.

Collaborate and Innovate

Work closely with robotics and avionics engineers to integrate software with hardware systems.
Stay ahead of industry trends and bring innovative ideas to our development processes.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement.

What Were Looking For

Technical Proficiency

Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python.
A strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and algorithms.
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded systems.
Solid understanding of control theory, state estimation, and sensor fusion.
Familiarity with UAV flight dynamics, PX4, ROS, or ArduPilot is a plus.

The rapid and successful deployment of BEAK earned Origin Robotics a local defense industry innovation award and strengthened our partnership with the Latvian Ministry of Defence, resulting in an R&D contract for a new Counter-Unmanned Aerial System.
