Job description

About the Role

The Senior Software Development Engineer will work with our API Engineering team. Youll work with dynamic and productive engineers, building a high-throughput and low-latency system and the tools needed to run it. Youll work with leading technologies to re-engineer our core stack to be industrial-grade. Youll work hands-on across our API services, directly with the business, quants, and our trade desk. 

The proper candidate will have experience building applications and working in a highly available and scalable environment. We seek someone who has exceptional attention to detail and values simplicity over complexity in code and communication. You will express your opinions confidently about what you create while also providing constructive feedback on things you haven't.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performing API  services using Java
  • Collaborate with product, risk, operations, legal, and compliance teams to align on requirements
  • Work within your team to set and execute specific goals and deliverables
  • Partner with business and engineering leaders to design, develop, test, and launch new applications

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with reliable and high-throughput distributed systems
  • Professional working knowledge of Java fundamentals, data structures, and best practices for modern software development
  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices aligned with business requirements.
  • Deploy, manage, and optimize backend services on AWS (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway).
  • Must understand how to write effective unit and integration tests with Gherkin syntax
  • Knowledge of SQL and No-SQL databases
  • Passion for developing scalable, well-designed software 
  • Experience with a 24x7, highly available architecture
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills. An ability to explain technical concepts and designs understandably to a broad audience
