Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the development and implementation of SMK College of Applied Sciences’ strategy, the Centre’s annual objectives and activity plan in line with agreed key performance indicators (KPIs).
Initiate, coordinate and oversee applied research projects with businesses and organizations (identifying research opportunities, planning and conducting research, and applying research results).
Ensure the implementation and dissemination of research activities within the relevant field, including publication planning and preparation, research dissemination, conferences, and the quality of research outputs.
Prepare and submit funding applications (EU and national funding programs) and coordinate project budgets, reporting and deadlines.
Build and develop a team of researchers by organizing their work, providing mentorship and strengthening competencies.
Ensure the quality of applied research, adherence to ethical principles and effective research data management.
Develop partnerships in Lithuania and internationally with research institutions, businesses, NGOs, the public sector and professional networks.

Candidate Requirements

University degree (master’s degree required; a doctoral degree is an advantage).
Management experience, including project coordination and implementation, leadership of research groups/teams, and securing funding.
Understanding and practical experience in at least one of the following areas (experience in both is an advantage): applied research with businesses and other organizations, preparation of publications, dissemination of research results, and organization of and participation in conferences.
Ability to plan strategically, manage processes and deliver results.
Knowledge of applied research methods, academic and research ethics, and quality assurance.
Excellent communication, negotiation, partnership-building and leadership skills.
Personal qualities: a positive attitude, a strong sense of responsibility, empathy, cultural sensitivity, strong interpersonal skills, academic integrity, innovation and initiative, resilience under pressure, and the ability to reflect on one’s own performance and accept constructive criticism.
English language proficiency at B2 level or higher (for international projects and partnerships).

SMK College of Applied Sciences is seeking a Head of Research Centre who will strategically strengthen the Centre’s activities in two equally important areas:

Applied research (R&D and innovation) in cooperation with business and the public sector,
R&D and innovation outputs: publications, conferences and research dissemination.

This position is for a person who can build effective systems, bring researchers together and translate research into tangible results – both in practice and in the academic environment.
