Senior Middleware Platform Engineer is a subject matter expert in messaging middleware platforms and data pipelines.
This is a key role in modernizing our data infrastructure and adopting industry best practices to ensure the platforms we provide to our business are scalable, reliable and secure. This position will include a high degree of interaction with business and operations units to understand the functional needs of the users of the system as well as the various technology teams which are responsible for integration points with the solutions.
Skills
Required skillset:
• Solid expertise with administrating Messaging platforms like MQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka or others
• Experience with Kafka on prem or Cloud would be a big plus
• Experience in enabling the Platform as a Service with operationalizing that in mind to optimization, capacity planning and architecture of a large multi-tenant cluster is a plus
• Experience in working with container and container orchestration platforms is a plus
• Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting of Middleware or similar technologies/principles and how they applied in infrastructure

Mission
• Product lifecycle Management of Messaging Middleware platforms KAFKA/IBM MQ/RabbitMQ
• Assist in the administration and operations of the Middleware platforms
• Solve complex performance issues
• Work with vendors to review products to meet the capability needs
• Define and document best practices and provide training, knowledge share, brown bag sessions etc
• Evaluate and introduce technology tools and processes to streamline operation of the integration platform and for streamlining use case execution for a diverse user community from multiple lines of business
• Work collaboratively as a part of the engineering team to ensure high availability and stability of platforms 24/7 (on-call support)
• Managing and maintaining physical and virtual servers including, procedures and tools for access, security, monitoring and tuning Kafka, other messaging middleware platforms and data pipelines
• Provide platform expertise, help solving issues and provide permanent solutions/fixes for problems
• Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluate potential tools/applications, and maintain good vendor relationships
