Our team offer a full time position for DevOps/System administrator on project work at Vilnius University, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Digital Research and Computing Centre (term of the employment contract until 31/12/2027)

Job Description:

Design, customisation and installation of the Faculty's computer network, analysis and solution of computer network problems to ensure data storage and access following FAIR principles
Administration, creation and management of users of the Faculty's computer resources, ensuring the assignment of rights to store and publish data
Administration of cloud-based virtualisation tools and creation of virtual machine templates for data exchange
Design, analysis and implementation of data exchange interfaces
Collaboration with other University departments in solving data exchange issues
Periodic upgrading of the software, installation of the software on the server infrastructure
Development of automated installation scripts for open and/or closed source operating systems
Ensuring the backup of data stored on the server infrastructure
Ensuring the legality of server software
Advising and assigning tasks to colleagues in the Digital Research and Computing Centre and providing functional leadership in the resolution of recorded incidents relating to data storage issues
Documentation of the work performed in the work accounting systems used by the Faculty
Preparation of software usage instructions
Writing specifications for IT equipment upgrades for public procurement

Qualifications required:

Higher university degree or equivalent in the field of natural or technological sciences or a master's degree in the field of computer science or computer engineering
At least one year of experience in the administration of Linux-type operating systems
Knowledge of LAN, WAN, etc. computer networks, customisation of NAT servers
Knowledge of ActiveDir, LDAP user authentication protocols
Familiarity with server architectures, their design and management techniques
Experience in deploying fast/slow access data stores
Experience with virtualisation tools and virtualised solutions (OpenNebula/OpenStack, etc.)
Knowledge of containerisation practices/tools (Kubernetes/Singularity or others)
Knowledge of programming and configuration management best practices (Puppet/Ansible or others)
Knowledge of system security requirements and experience in managing a computer network to ensure data security
Be familiar with data recovery solutions and technologies
Proficiency in English
Good skills in managing and summarising information, planning work, expressing ideas fluently in writing and orally

Would be considered as an advantage:

Knowledge of the Lustre file system
Knowledge of Ceph data warehouse-type architecture
Knowledge of Dataverse-type or other open-source web-based solutions for sharing, storing, citing, exploring and analysing research data

Monthly salary from Eur 1840 to Eur 2245 Eur before taxes (the rate of the salary varies depending on the number of working hours per each month, annual salary is about Eur 24550 before taxes)
