In this role, you will conduct internal investigations and enhance ethics programs for the Company's Ethics Office, which is part of the Corporate Affairs Team in the Legal, Compliance, and Enterprise Risk group.  Among other things, it investigates ethics and whistleblowing complaints, analyses and reports on ethics data, administers the Company's Code of Conduct, leads ethics training, and develops initiatives to promote an ethical culture.  The Ethics Office plays a vital role in supporting the reputation and brand of Western Union. You will be reporting to the Managing Associate General Counsel and Chief Ethics Officer.  This role presents the opportunity to work on a passionate and engaged team and continue to develop and maintain a best-in-class ethics program covering the Company's global regions.

Your responsibilities will include managing and supporting ethics investigations in the EU and other regions relating to reports of violations of the company's Code of Conduct or policies, including reports of bribery, corruption, privacy or cyber-security breaches, antitrust violations, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, accounting or audit concerns, fraud, conflicts of interest, and other ethics-related issues. This includes developing investigation plans, conducting interviews, providing legal advice, and supporting the investigation protocol and timelines of the Ethics Office. You will collaborate with other Legal teams (e.g., Employment Law, Litigation, Privacy) and non-Legal teams (e.g., HR, Compliance, Security) to respond to ethics concerns and drive a culture of proactive risk management.

You will also be responsible for other Ethics Office programs, including updating the Code of Conduct and ethics policies, developing and/or leading ethics training, and generating awareness for Ethics Office initiatives. You will analyze data trends and draft reports for the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and monitor relevant regulatory issues, such as member state adoption of the EU Whistleblowing Directive. You will also support Company-wide and cross-functional programs and projects, including Western Union's Environmental, Social, and Governance program and the Company's Human Rights Working Group.

For such a pivotal role, you'll ideally have a master's degree in Law. A license to practice law and in good standing with the bar or country equivalent qualifications is preferred. We expect you to have at least 3 years of investigations-related work experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm advising on employment, compliance, investigations, or similar areas. You have an ability to establish rapport, you are confident and trusted with employees from entry-level to executives.

You have logic, analysis, critical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills and the ability to effectively manage confidential and/or legally privileged matters. This position requires you to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including confident presentation skills, the ability to articulate complex legal concepts into clear recommendations, and the ability to influence and challenge business partners in a constructive and persuasive manner. You can work both independently and as part of a team. You have strong organizational and prioritization skills, high attention to detail, and a passion for building an ethical culture.
