As a data engineer you will design and implement data solutions that drive business value, while working alongside experienced professionals who are motivated by data engineering.
Our primary focus is on building, maintaining and optimizing data pipelines using technologies like SQL, Python & others, with the nearest future plan to integrate tools such as Kafka, Databricks and Hadoop.
You will join the Global Insights department, part of Group Data and Analytics. Our team of experienced IT professionals, including business intelligence analysts and data engineers, values continuous learning, knowledge sharing and the adoption of emerging technologies to solve complex data challenges.
The workplace is located in Vilnius. Danske Bank supports workplace flexibility (we currently use a hybrid work model, where we work at least 3 days in the office).
This role does not include a relocation allowance.
You will:
- Architect and manage large-scale data solutions, defining technical standards and best practices for data modelling and integration
- Design and improve complex data pipelines using tools such as Python, Spark, Kafka, and advanced SQL, emphasizing automation and scalability
- Continuously optimize system performance, scalability and reliability by addressing complex challenges and implementing advanced technologies
- Ensure compliance of AWS databases (including S3) with rigorous standards for security, privacy and data integrity, managing governance frameworks
- Lead innovation by exploring emerging technologies, including generative AI and managing proof-of-concept projects to future-proof data infrastructure
- Research and adopt new methodologies and tools to enhance team capabilities and increase operational efficiency
- Mentor and guide data engineers, fostering technical growth through code reviews, knowledge sharing and leadership in team initiatives
About you:
- Senior-level expertise: 4+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise-grade data solutions in complex, regulated environments (financial services would be beneficial)
- Advanced Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and Python for building scalable data pipelines, ETL workflows, and API integrations at enterprise scale
- Modern Data Stack: Practical experience with dbt (Data Build Tool) or SQL Mesh, cloud platforms (Databricks, AWS, GCP, or Azure), and their advanced data services
- Architecture & Leadership: Experience in data architecture design, performance optimization, and leading technical initiatives across teams
- Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience mentoring junior engineers, conducting code reviews, and driving technical best practices across organizations
- Enterprise Scale: Experience with distributed systems, streaming technologies (Kafka, Spark), real-time data processing, and data governance frameworks.
- DevOps & Compliance: Practical experience with version control, CI/CD platforms (Azure DevOps, GitHub), infrastructure as code, and regulatory compliance standards
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders. Upper-Intermediate English (written and verbal)
We offer
Monthly salary range from 4560 EUR to 6840 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
